Each year Women CEO Project hosts a Christmas Packaging Event for homeless women. These women are in temporary shelters often with their children during the holidays. Many of us are just one paycheck away from being homeless and it's a humbling experience to see these women in their current condition. Last year I had an opportunity to speak with one of the women. She openly shared with me that she and her two children, ages 4 and 6 were "thrown" out of the home they stayed in with her mother. They were sitting on the curb outside of the shelter, at night, in the cold, waiting for their name to be called (only if there was room inside). I never found out if this mother of two had her name called that night.
Care packages of 50+ bags are assembled by volunteers. Items such as baby wipes, soap. socks, razors, shampoo, deodorant, tampons, plastic raincoats and hand sanitizer are freely donated and delivered to the shelter. GlammGirl is a proud participant and would love for you to join us in any way you can.
